I’m a nerd for research and looked into a variety of hotels and vacation rentals prior to my trip to Lisbon. After learning about the city’s various neighborhoods, countless hills, metro system, and tourist hotspots – I finally settled on a hotel in the neighborhood of Saldanha. I was really pleased with my decision at the time of my stay and still feel the same after reflecting on this fun, quick trip to Portugal’s capital city.
HERE IS THE HOTEL THAT I SELECTED & THE REASONS WHY
HOTEL NAME: ibis Lisboa Centro Saldanha
ADDRESS: Avenida Casal Ribeiro 23, 1000-090 Lisboa, Portugal
IN-ROOM OFFERINGS: Air Conditioning – Free WiFi – Satellite TV – Work Desk
HOTEL AMENITIES: 24-Hour Front Desk – Elevators – Water Station – On Site Bar – On Site Dining – Laundry Services – Covered Parking – Plenty of Communal Lounge Space – Plenty of Communal Work Spaces & Outlets
THE PRICE: My ideal spend for Lisbon was under $125/night, and the iBis fit perfectly into my budget. The average nightly rate inclusive of taxes & fees ended up being $115.00, and the prices in 2024 are, surprisingly, around the same!
THE REVIEWS: Positive feedback from previous guests is always a contributing factor whenever I choose accommodations. The iBis had wonderful reviews across various travel websites so I knew it would be an excellent choice.
THE LOCATION: I specifically wanted to stay in a safe, quiet neighborhood that was away from any loud, nightlife scenes and highly touristed areas. I also wanted to be in very close proximity to a metro station so I could easily access all of Lisbon’s top sights. The iBis Lisboa Centro Saldanha hit all these marks in every single way!
- Closest Subway: Saldanha Metro Station // Just a 5-Minute Walk from the hotel
- Distance From Airport: 20-Minute Metro ride from the Saldanha Metro Station. It’s just 10 stops away along the same line! // By Uber or Taxi, the airport is less than 3 miles away from the hotel and takes less than 15-minutes with standard traffic.
- Distance From Praça Do Comérico: 20-Minute Metro ride // 40-minute walk (1.87 miles)
ADDED PERKS: Just a few steps outside of the ibis Lisboa Centro Saldanha you will find a variety of restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, small grocers, a Millennium Bank if you need access to an ATM, and a beautiful fountain called Fonte do Neptuno! I was so happy to have quick access to all of these local businesses and definitely took advantage of having these essentials nearby.
Okay; time for some photos of the hotel!
STANDARD ROOM WITH DOUBLE BED

My room was very comfortable and had the perfect amount of space for a solo-traveler like myself. The iBis offers larger, Superior Rooms if you and/or your travel partner require more space.
THE SPACIOUS. ATTACHED BATHROOM

I was definitely impressed by the size of the bathroom and appreciated the modern design, large mirror, adequate counter space, tall shower stall, comfortable toilet, and built-in blow dryer.
LOUNGE, DINING, & WORK AREAS

These are literally just a few of the many, communal spaces located throughout the 1st floor of the iBis. I personally did not partake in the hotel’s continental breakfast, but the buffet area was really well designed. The adjacent dining room was also quite large.
EXTERIOR SHOTS OF THE HOTEL & NEARBY SQUARES

The charming, neighborhood of Saldanha is located right outside the hotel doors.

If you are looking for an affordable, quiet, and convenient place to stay during your trip to Lisbon – I highly suggest booking a room or two at the ibis Lisboa Centro Saldanha.
This small but mighty hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. The front desk staff was always friendly and incredibly helpful with directions! More importantly, I always felt safe and comfortable both as a guest of the hotel and when walking through the surrounding neighborhood!
