It doesn’t take much for me to enjoy the summer as long as I have an endless supply of chilled rosé, a nice pair of sunglasses, a great book or two, grilled seasonal eats, plenty of ice cold beer, good company, and a refreshing place to swim! Okay, maybe that list was a little long, but of all the things I could have asked for […spending June on a yacht off the coast of Croatia, July in the South of France, August in Santorini, perfectly tailored swimsuits, a standing reservation on the water front patio of a quaint, award winning restaurant, gorgeous people fanning me with palm fronds…] my summer essentials seem incredibly reasonable 😉 So whether you are enjoying a typical summer like myself or are lucky enough to be experiencing my fantasy summer abroad – all that time spent galavanting in the water under the warm sun while drinking & eating more than one probably should, is bound to take a toll on our skin. Lucky for me, I’ve found the best beauty products perfect for battling the effects of the summer sun and months of summer fun!
All of the products mentioned below are items I regularly use and very much enjoy. I could not recommend them more and hope they bring you and your family as much summertime relief and summertime joy as they have brought me.
A SUPERB SUNBLOCK
COCOKIND – Daily SPF
A broad-spectrum sunscreen is a year round must-have that becomes even more important during the hot summer months. Cocokind’s mineral-based sunblock moisturizer is comprised of 21% non-nano zinc oxide and also features blue phytoplankton, micro-algae, and rice starch. It is unscented and has an SPF of 32. There is slight white cast upon application, but it quickly disappears after 10-20 seconds of rubbing the lotion in. I use this product with and without makeup.

SUN BUM – Mineral Sunscreens
This is my go-to sunblock brand for summer days spent in the water. I love Sun Bum’s mineral sunscreen line because of the yummy coconut scent, broad-spectrum capabilities, and up to 80 minutes of water resistance. Their mineral sunblocks are reef friendly, have SPFs ranging from 30 to 50, and come in sprays, lotions, and sticks. The formulations are on the thicker side but do blend into the skin after some rubbing. Active ingredients in Sun Bum’s mineral line include zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or both based on which product you purchase. Sun Bum products can be found at every major drugstore, Target, surf shops, and more making it an excellent option for those who don’t have the time for or access to online shopping.

A TOP-NOTCH DEODORANT

I have used this particular deodorant the last two summers and can’t wait to crack open my third stick next week. My favorite thing about activated charcoal is how well it detoxifies, disinfects, and absorbs both odor and wetness. This natural deodorant goes on virtually clear, has never stained my clothes, has never irritated my skin, and has tackled 100+ degree heat like a pro. The mild, minty scent is lovely, and the texture is creamy and smooth. It’s so good, my boyfriend has his very own stick for the summer too.

A WONDERFUL WATER BOTTLE
CORKCICLE – 25 oz Classic Canteen
Stay hydrated my friends! Drinking water is one of the best things we can do to take care of our skin not just during the summer but on a daily basis. Water is the key to life and the key to good health so please drink up!
I have been using my Corkcicle canteen since 2013, and it’s still in excellent working condition. This bottle has triple-layer insulation that keeps liquids hot for 12 hours & cool for 25 hours. It’s also BPA Free and features a screw on cap. The size of this particular canteen is perfect for summer road trips and long days spent by the beach, river, lake, and pool!
A STELLAR CLEANSER
URSA MAJOR – Fantastic Face Wash
I love this cleanser! It’s gentle yet powerful enough to remove all the oil, dirt, and grime from my skin after a long summer’s day. The cedar, spearmint, and lime create a wonderful scent that always leaves me feeling invigorated. A little goes a long way so the 8oz bottle lasts quite some time. My other favorite thing about this face wash is that my boyfriend also loves it which in turn creates one less item in the bathroom and one less item to pack when we travel.
A HIGH QUALITY MOISTURIZER
PRIMALLY PURE – Citrus + Mint Body Butter
I am obsessed with all things citrus. I love mint, and I can never get enough coconut oil in my life. These are just a few of the reasons why I like to think that this body butter was specifically made just for me 😉 After hours of swimming, this luxurious moisturizer is all my skin needs to feel rehydrated and refreshed. It has a great consistency and absorbs both quickly and easily into my skin. Also, a little goes a long way so you will absolutely get your money’s worth if you invest in this product. I personally love the Citrus + Mint scent, but if those ingredients aren’t your jam, Primally Pure makes this body butter in Almond + Vanilla as well as Eucalyptus + Lavender.
