Solara Suncare: Skincare Review

I have been wanting to try Solara Suncare’s fancier skincare line for quite some time and finally took the plunge earlier this year. Keep on reading for my honest review of some of their most popular, mineral-based sunscreen products.

Clean Freak Nutrient Boosted Daily Sunscreen

  • The Verdict: Despite having a thick consistency, I love that this sunscreen is so soft and creamy. It is labeled as unscented, but there is a subtle aroma that I personally quite enjoy. Due to the thicker formulation, a bit more effort is required when rubbing it in. However, after just a few moments I always find that this pale ivory sunscreen blends into my brown skin just fine and surprisingly, leaves no white cast. It does take a bit more effort to blend the product into my hair line, eyebrows, and body hair. If you have drier skin, I recommend applying a moisturizer beforehand. If you have an oilier complexion or are in a tropical climate, you can probably use this on your face as is. I have personally used this sunscreen alone and felt that it provided adequate moisturizing effects. However, I think it’s best to apply a standard day cream first when using this product in arid climates or with makeup. Last but not least, it’s worth mentioning that this SPF 30 sunscreen is waterproof for up to 40 minutes. It is essential that you remember to reapply after that time frame. My boyfriend did not reapply after forty minutes and did get sunburned during a recent trip to Hawaii. If you tend to forget to reapply sunscreen when splashing around, Raw Elements is a good alternative since it has an 80-minute waterproof window. For those with a great memory, however, Clean Freak is a fantastic product.
